We cordially invite you to take part in METANANO School organized by the Department of Physics and Engineering of ITMO University and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The aim of the School is to bring participants together in an effort to lay the ground for future research as well as to educate the professionals in fields of nanophotonics and metamaterials.

Given the uncertainty of the situation in the world and no predictions on whether the traveling will be allowed by next summer we consider holding the school either in a hybrid format (offilne in St. Petersburg, Russia + online) or fully online.


5-day course of lectures and practical classes (from the fundamentals to the latest achievements in the field), poster session and discussions with experts on modern scientific issues.


All participants of the School will be offered to complete a written final test based on the school's lectures content. Students who will successfully pass the test (higher than 85% correct answers) will be awarded 3 ECTS.


Apply for a grant and the Organizing Committee will determine the best applications to fully or partially cover the travel costs or participation fee.

Application and School fees

Selection of the School participants is made on the basis of applicant’s CV and motivation letter. All registered participants are encouraged to attend Poster Session competition. The best poster will be awarded.
Travel grants will be offered for selected students after consideration of requests.

The fee includes tuition, lecture materials, lunches and coffee-breaks, and social events. Participants are responsible for finding accommodation.
* For students affiliated with CIS-countries' universities the fee is reduced to 10000 RUB. Please contact School Organizers for details.
