General information

We cordially invite you to take part in METANANO School organized by the Department of Physics and Engineering of ITMO University and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The aim of the School is to bring participants together in an effort to lay the ground for future research as well as to educate the professionals in fields of nanophotonics and metamaterials.

School Topic

Photonics of 2D materials

For Whom?

PhD and Master’s students

When

19-23 July 2021

Credits

3 ECTS

Format

Given the uncertainty of the situation in the world we will hold the school fully online.

ACTIVITIES

5-day course of lectures and practical classes (from the fundamentals to the latest achievements in the field), poster session and discussions with experts on modern scientific issues.

FINAL ASSESSMENT

All participants of the School will be offered to complete a written final test based on the school's lectures content. Students who will successfully pass the test (higher than 85% correct answers) will be awarded 3 ECTS.

GRANT

Apply for a grant and the Organizing Committee will determine the best applications to fully or partially cover the participation fee.

Sponsors

This year the Best Poster award is sponsored by the Sensors journal. The best three posters will receive a monetary award from the journal. Moreover, we have opened a Special issue for participants to submit their papers. Take a look at submission section.

Sensors (ISSN 1424-8220) is the leading international peer-reviewed open access journal on the science and technology of sensors and applications. Its Impact Factor 2019 is 3.275 and CiteScore 2019 is 5.0. Open Access increases visibility of scientific researches. In 2019, Sensors received 12.6 million full text views, see https://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/stats.

Optical Sensors Section is a section of Sensors (ISSN 1424-8220). It publishes original peer-reviewed papers covering all aspects of Optical Sensing. Both theoretical and experimental papers and comprehensive review are considered. This Section addresses all aspects of optical sensors, including source and detection technologies, sensor architectures, sensor performance, processing approaches and applications, as well as actuation and control by light. These optical sensors and actuators include micro- and nanodevices, large devices, sensor arrays, as well as several materials and technologies for a very large number of applications. The flyer with more detailed information is available here.

Submission

Authors of papers presented in this school and within the scope of Sensors may submit a technically extended version to the special issue of Sensors. As an open access journal, Sensors has an Article Processing Charge of 2200 CHF for accepted papers.
The conference participates will receive a 10% discount on the publishing fees.

The Special Issue website can be reached at https://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/special_issues/2MOSPA

The extended papers from conference should fulfill the following requirements:

1. The paper should have more than 50% new data and content. It will be much better if the Title and Abstract are different with that of conference paper, as that they can be differentiated in various databases.
2. The conference paper should be cited and mentioned in the first page of the paper.
3. If the authors do not hold the copyright of the published conference paper, authors should seek the appropriate permission from the copyright holder.
4. Authors are asked to disclose that it is conference paper in cover letter and include a statement on what has been changed compared to original conference paper.

Sensors (ISSN 1424-8220) is the leading international peer-reviewed open access journal on the science and technology of sensors and applications. Its Impact Factor 2019 is 3.275 and CiteScore 2020 is 5.8, increasing from 2019 5.0, which is an increase for three consecutive years. This corresponds to a ranking of Q1 in the category of ‘Instruments & Instrumentation’, Q2 in ‘Chemistry, Analytical’ and Q2 in the ‘Electrochemistry’. Open Access increases visibility of scientific researches. In 2020, Sensors received 15.7 million full text views, see https://www.mdpi.com/journal/sensors/stats.
